Melbourne United Reformed Church is celebrating 150 years of worship in this buillding. The foundation stone was laid in 1871 when the Revd Bannister was minister of the then CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH. The first services were held in the following year. One hundred years later the church joined with the Presbyterian denomination to form the United Reformed Church. The Church of Scotland joined this union at a later date.
Celebrations will take place during September and October starting with a service of praise and worship including a Harvest display and thanksgiving on Sunday September 18th at 10.30am. The Church will be open throughout this weekend for visitors to the Melbourne Arts Festival with an exhibition of the history of the Church being displayed. Refreshments will be available and all visitors are welcome. The following Sunday we will be enjoying a "Come and Sing Sankey" evening at 6pm and on 1st October we will be holding a Barn Dance in the Church Hall (time to be announced at a later date).
